Accessibility statement

Standard

This website is built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, and follows the Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW) 3.0 and IS 17802 as a voluntary benchmark, in the spirit of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. It has not been independently audited; if you find something that fails, we would rather hear it than not.

What is built in

• A “skip to main content” link on every page.
• Full keyboard operability, with a visible focus indicator throughout.
• Text-size controls (A / A+ / A++) and a high-contrast mode in the top utility bar, remembered between visits.
• Light and dark themes, both designed to clear AA contrast rather than one being an afterthought of the other.
• All motion respects the “reduce motion” system preference. Under it, and in high-contrast mode, the 3D and animated layers do not load at all — a static equivalent takes their place.
• The background animation also has an explicit pause control, and your choice persists.
• Decorative images and animation are marked as such so screen readers skip them; meaningful images carry descriptions.
• Semantic landmarks and a single, ordered heading structure per page.
• Bengali rendered in Unicode with a screen-reader-compatible face (Noto Sans Bengali).
• Content is readable without JavaScript — the scroll animations only add motion to content that is already there.

Known limitations

• The Bengali translation currently covers the site chrome — navigation, header, footer and controls. Page bodies are in English while a full professional translation is prepared.
• Venue accessibility details for WEBEL are published with the floor plan closer to the summit.
